We'll be discussing everything about Champagne and tasting an extra special one. This is a Grower Champagne. Unlike the traditional grande marques – who buy grapes from grapegrowers – these producers grow their own grapes as well as produce the wines. Without the ties to the big houses, wines which express greater terroir are often found – as is the case with Michel Gonet's.
Champagne has more bubbles than other sparkling wines, so make the most of them before it goes flat. Serve this wine at about 10°C to get the most from its flavours. Leave the flutes and pour it straight into big red wine glasses to open it up even more.
