Cabernet franc is such a wonderful grape. Driven by the pyrazines aroma that provides green bell pepper aromas and other greener flavours, it's a treat for anyone looking for a different take on cabernet sauvignon./
When we tasted the Gunzer portfolio it was an incredibly hard choice narrowing down favourites. We are huge fans of the entire Gunzer family estate and in a different world would import all of them. Operating since 1990, they started with half an acre and a 1,500 / year production line. They've grown since then, but retain the focus on terroir-driven wines.
We've wanted to send out a cab franc since we started, and finally, we've found one. This. has green bell pepper, liquorice, plum, and blackberries on the nose, with lots of complexity and depth. Medium-high acid and medium-high tannins provide great but not overwhelming bite.
