The problem with wine appellations, is long sets of rules you have to follow. If you don't meet them, you don't get to use the name. This is the non-Gigondas, Gigondas.
Gigondas is in southern Rhone. Right alongside subregions you're more likely to know the names of like Chateauneuf-du-pape.
This wine is bold and big. Aromas of liquorice, black fruits, pepper, meatiness, those sorts of things. And because it's got two lesser-known grapes in the mix, it can't call itself Gigondas.
All the better for us. Buy now, drink with meat.
