The grandparents of the current winemakers Fred and Alex Chaudiere bought the vineyard in the 70s and the family have worked and lived at the Chateau ever since. They farm organically and their cellars are built into the mountain to be naturally insulated. The rest of their buildings have solar panels on the roofs so that the estate actually creates more electricity than it uses.
Considering this is from the Rhône, this feels surprisingly fresh. Smoky red cherries mix with black berries, raspberries, with a herbal background. Nice complexity here. On the palate, the raspberries and black fruits sing with an acidic crunch. Great Rhône red for wanting something off the beaten track.
